Within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Metropolitan University and the Nacer Foundation, it has been possible to train 202 nurses from the Hospital General San Felipe and the Hospital Universitario Bloque Materno Infantil, during the period from August to November of this year. Such training would not have been possible without the support of the Permanent Commission of Contingencies of Honduras (COPECO, for its name in Spanish “Comisión Permanente de Contingencias de Honduras”), who has very actively put their knowledge and facilities at their disposal on a voluntary basis for the development of the diploma described as GIRD, where its main objective is to strengthen the competences through the acquisition of theoretical-practical knowledge and the development of skills, abilities, attitudes and aptitudes for the different emergency situations that they face as nursing staff in the health sector.

This diploma is important because it is the first time that nurses in public hospitals are trained in this sensitive subject, considering the high vulnerability of our country.
